Looking forward to Sunday and our focus on the Joy of Believing. This week we will look at a pivotal verse in Philippians on knowing God (Philippians 3:10). J.I. Packer once penned, "What were we made for? What aim should we set ourselves in life? To know God. What is the “eternal life” that Jesus gives? Knowledge of God."Knowing God is the aim of the Christian life. The more we know him, the greater peace, contentment, and fulfillment we experience in our daily lives. Jesus spoke these words, "Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent."
Many things in life distract us from this ultimate pursuit which is to walk with God and to know him more fully. Our flesh pulls us in the opposite direction. The culture surrounding us "shouts" of other more pressing pursuits. And the enemy of our souls, Satan, works to distract us from a meaningful relationship with our creator.
